Updated Requirements for Traveling to Belize from Colombia in 2024

If you are planning a trip to Belize from Colombia, it is essential to comply with the following requirements to ensure a smooth entry:

Valid Passport: Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months at the time of entry into the country.

Exit Ticket: You must present a return ticket to Colombia or onward travel to another destination within the authorized period. Traditionally, Colombian tourists could stay up to 90 days in Belize; however, since September 2023, restrictions have been implemented limiting tourist stays to a maximum of 15 days for certain travelers, depending on their nationality and profile as evaluated by immigration authorities.

Proof of Financial Means: You must demonstrate sufficient funds to cover expenses during your stay. As of late 2023, the required amount has increased from $500 to $1,000 USD. You can justify this with cash or credit/debit cards, regardless of your length of stay. Upon arrival at the airport, authorities commonly request proof of these funds, so it is advisable to carry updated bank statements or card balance confirmations.

Proof of Accommodation: You must provide a confirmed hotel reservation or an invitation letter stating where you will be staying during your visit. It is recommended to have these documents printed or digitally accessible to show immigration authorities.

Purpose of Travel: Although not always requested, it is wise to be prepared to explain and, if possible, document the reason for your visit, whether for tourism, business, or other purposes.

Travel Insurance: While not mandatory, it is strongly recommended to have travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and other unexpected events during your stay in Belize. Some credit cards include this benefit; otherwise, you can purchase suitable travel insurance before departure.

Health Requirements: Since September 2022, Belize has lifted COVID-19-related restrictions. You do not need to present vaccination certificates, negative tests, or health declaration forms to enter the country.
